When To Use
Use A401™ when a general contractor needs to subcontract a portion of the work on any size design-bid-build project.
What It Does
A401 establishes the contractor-subcontractor relationship on design-bid-build projects, setting out each party's responsibilities in parallel with the A201 General Conditions. It gives contractors and subcontractors a consistent subcontract that flows down prime contract obligations, protecting both parties.
Additional Information
May be modified for use between a subcontractor and sub-subcontractor. Must be modified if used alongside A104 or A105, as those agreements have different general conditions.
