When To Use
BIM execution plans are project-specific and should be used when a project uses Building Information Modeling at the outset to establish rights associated with building information modeling and digital data.
What It Does
G203 serves as a framework for creating a project-specific BIM Execution Plan. It formalizes the project team's Building Information Modeling execution plan, defining how models will be created, shared, coordinated, and managed throughout the design and construction phases. It provides all project participants with a shared written framework for BIM collaboration, reducing coordination failures and ensuring that digital data is used consistently across the project. G203 contains multiple fill points and is intended to stimulate conversations and document decisions surrounding how the Project Participants will utilize BIM on their Project.
Additional Information
Although the BIM Execution Plan is not itself a contract exhibit, it carries contractual weight because parties are obligated to follow it under their BIM exhibit agreements.
