When To Use
Use G702™ when a contractor needs to formally apply for a progress payment and the architect needs to certify the amount due. This document is suitable for any project size.
What It Does
G702 provides contractors with a structured format to request progress payments, expediting payment through a streamlined process. The contractor documents the status of the contract sum to date, including work completed and stored, retainage, previous payments, change order summaries, and the current amount requested. The architect's signature certifies to the owner that the indicated payment is due. The architect may also certify a different amount with an explanation.
It pairs with the G703 continuation sheet, which breaks the contract sum into portions of the work in accordance with a schedule of values prepared by the contractor as required by the general conditions.
Additional Information
It is commonly referred to as an AIA billing form, progress billing form, or pay app.
