When To Use
Use C202™ when an architect or owner needs to hire a geotechnical engineering consultant; attach this scope document to the C103 owner-consultant agreement, its required companion.
What It Does
C202 establishes the responsibilities of a geotechnical engineer when hired as a consultant. It separates the geotechnical engineer’s services into four phases:
- Explorations and testing
- Preparation of a geotechnical report
- Design phase services
- Construction phase services
In the first phase, the geotechnical engineer prepares a detailed plan for all explorations and tests, and performs them in accordance with specified requirements. The second phase includes a detailed list of items the geotechnical engineer will provide in the geotechnical report. The final two phases require the geotechnical engineer to consult with the owner and other consultants during design and construction of the project.
