When To Use
Use A201® KDE on the District Facilities Branch of the Kentucky Department of Education projects that require a complete set of General Conditions. It serves as the keystone document for the KDE design-bid-build document family adopted by reference in KDE owner-architect, owner-contractor, and contractor-subcontractor agreements.
What It Does
A201 KDE provides the General Conditions for Kentucky school construction projects, governing the owner, contractor, architect, and subcontractors. Although not a party to the construction contract between the owner and the contractor, the architect participates in preparing the contract documents and performs the construction-phase responsibilities described in detail in the General Conditions. A201 KDE is the legal backbone of Kentucky Department of Education school construction contracts, consistently defining each party's obligations through final completion.
