When To Use
An updated 2017 version is available and is the current standard for new construction projects. Use A201®, the General Conditions for the Contract for Construction, only on projects that were contracted under the 2007 edition and still require it as the operative document.
What It Does
A201-2007 continues to govern existing projects that incorporated it by reference. It provides the General Conditions governing the rights, responsibilities, and relationships of the owner, contractor, architects, and subcontractors on design-bid-build projects. Although not a party to the construction contract between the owner and the contractor, the architect participates in preparing the contract documents and performs the construction-phase responsibilities described in detail in the A201 General Conditions.
